M3 – [iLoveMakonnen]

In an age full of cookie-cutter artists and styles, an artist like iLoveMakonnen is exactly what music needs. Whether you love him or hate him, Makonnen has been one of the most unique and unapologetically odd artists out for quite some time now, and with every new release, we only find ourselves deeper into his colorful, weird world of sound. Today, the Atlanta-raised talent is here to unveil his latest and greatest creation after a long hiatus from releasing any solo projects: a brand new EP entitled M3. Just 6 tracks long, M3 is the perfect statement for Makonnen to make at this stage in his career. He’s seen and been through it all, and yet, his artistry remains brilliantly unscathed, allowing this EP to shift from the emotive honesty of “I’m Not Ok” all the way to the triumphant “Spendin’” and even the earworm of a song, “Liquid Supply Daily.” After listening to this one a few times through, I can’t put into words how refreshing it is to hear such a brilliant artistic mind come back to the spotlight, and I truly believe that M3 marks a turning point in Makonnen’s intriguing career. No one does it quite like iLoveMakonnen, and this …

i have so much to tell you – [Curtis Williams]

Curtis Williams — the Two-9 legend, himself — is the kind of artist whose effortless cool will never fade. It’s not that he can “adjust with the times” or keep up with new trends, but rather, Williams has an individualistic style that will never burn out, fueled simply by a sense of authenticity that can’t be faked. Needless to say, ATL’s own is still putting out noteworthy music, just as we saw a few weeks ago with his “Darren Waller Freestyle.” Today, Williams brings this full circle with the main entree: a new project entitled i have so much to tell you.  As reflected by the title, this project gives listeners a chance to update themselves on what Curtis Williams has been up to as of late, and if not anything else, I love just how well this project reflects where his spirit is at. Right away, Williams takes things to an intimate, eye-to-eye level with listeners, balancing a beautiful, soul-stricken harmonica run with wisdom from none other than the Based God — and before you ask, yes, this is the best idea for an introduction I’ve heard in quite some time. From there, i have so much to tell you …

Fresh off the release of his new single, “Spendin”, featuring Gucci Mane, Atlanta-bred crooner iLoveMakonnen is back in the headlines today with a brand new interview alongside Real 92.3 LA. It’s been quite some time since we last received the benefits of a press run from the star artist, but thankfully, it looks as though Makonnen is going to be doing his rounds in the months to come, as the Real 92.3 LA interview arrives just weeks after Makonnen’s last interview, which you can check out here. That said, the latest live update with Makonnen runs over a plethora of topics including Drake and OVO, Soulja Boy, Lil Peep, coming out of the closet, new music, and much, much more. Spendin’ – [ILoveMakonnen] Ft. [Gucci Mane]

ILoveMakonnen has more hit records so far in his short career than most artists can get in their entire career, and he just released his latest smash record titled “Spendin” featuring Gucci Mane! I was extremely eager to see what this song would sound like when I saw the feature from Gucci but they truly did snap, ILoveMakonnen paved the way and created a heartlful & joyous feeling record, the Gucci Mane feature felt like the cherry on top! Makonnen got blessed with some glorious production that was provided by Brenton Duvall, Roofeeo and Louis Bell, leaving him with no choice but to make a memorable tune. Spendin’ – [ILoveMakonnen] ft. [Gucci Mane]

Ever since 2014, when his hit song, “Tuesday” first blew up, iLoveMakonnen has proved himself to be a natural hitmaker and the kind of artist who, regardless of what anyone else says, will always follow his own path. This is certainly an admirable quality to take into account when searching for new music, and today, heading back into the spotlight with a clear example of this trait, Makonnen is here to offer a new single titled “Spendin’” featuring Gucci Mane. Simplistic in its melodies yet endlessly entertaining, this track allows the two Atlanta natives to let loose creatively, placing an emphasis on their charismatic cadences as the track runs from the first second to the last. Both Makonnen and Gucci have a knack for finding just the right pockets in any given beat, and “Spendin’” is clear proof. That said, this track lets us know that iLoveMakonnen isn’t playing around in 2019, so be sure to check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

PART DEAUXXXXXXX – [iLoveMakonnen]

iLoveMakonnen is, and forever will be, one of my favorite artists simply due to the authenticity of his music. So few acts are able to capture candid emotion in such an undiluted, effortlessly beautiful manner as he does, and even so, the Atlanta-bred talent does it without blinking an eye, making him a force to be reckoned with that I’ll always be a fan of. Today, Makonnen hits the Lyrical Lemonade pages and keeps us on our toes with a new tape (from a few weeks back) entitled Part DEAUXXXXXXX, compiled of a few miscellaneous songs that act as an appetizer for new music hopefully on the way in 2019. Just 5 tracks long, this offering was posted to what is supposedly one of Makonnen’s burner accounts on SoundCloud, but needless to say, it brings out some truly great music that I know I’ll be playing all throughout 2019. Due to the up-front nature of his music, even Makonnen’s demos are worth listening to, as they shed a light on the ability of the highly-talented musician to freestyle something brilliant with ease. That said, Part DEAUXXXXXXX is a promising hint toward what’s to come in the new year, so give this one a listen below and pay attention …

ILOVEAMERICA – [iLoveMakonnen]

iLoveMakonnen is an absolute treasure of an artist, and today, he proves it once again with a new, 4-track EP entitled ILOVEAMERICA in celebration of the 4th of July. This project, although short in length, showcases a monstrous bout of refined artistry in the way that Makonnen weaves through styles so effortlessly. Each track brings to fruition an entirely unique sound and feel, but the charismatic presence of the “Super Chef” never leaves the mic, and thankfully so. ILOVEAMERICA is also wonderfully unapologetic, as we watch the Atlanta-bred talent shed light on his most authentic self alongside only one other feature from fellow ATLien, Key!. That being said, this EP is meant to be kept on repeat all summer long, so be sure to click play below and let us know what you think in the comments!

ILOVEMAKONNEN X RONNY J – [ILoveMakonnen] x [Ronny J]

Earlier today, the one-two punch of ILoveMakonnen and Ronny J came to the spotlight with a new collaborative single titled “Paper Chase”. However, just a few hours after dropping their hard-hitting new track, it became clear that the two had even bigger things in store with the release of a 5-track collaborative effort titled ILOVEMAKONNEN X RONNY J. Describing the EP via Twitter, Makonnen was sure to explain the nature of the songs, saying “it’s not a tape, it’s just having us having fun making music for the fans”. The ominous sounds on this one make for quite an interesting listen, as Ronny J’s trunk-rattling bass hits and relentless production seem to cut through Makonnen’s sing-songy vocals and eccentric voice in a complementary manner. Although we may not have seen it coming, this collaboration yielded some dope sounds, so I highly recommend giving it a listen below. Ronny J has been the name behind the boards on a number of hits already in 2018, and it looks like he’s keeping the full court press on with this new serving of heat for the fans alongside one of ATL’s most unique acts out right now.
