Cloudz – [Mother Nature] & [BoatHouse] ft. [Sir Michael Rocks]

It seems like recently I’ve been writing about a lot more Chicago artists than normal, and I’m not mad at that even slightly. I love supporting my city because I know how talented so many individuals here are and I want the rest of the country to experience this as well. As far as major influencers in the Chicago music scene go, independent label Closed Sessions has been a force in the industry for quite a few years, and they’ve signed some of the most talented artists inside of the city and out which means that anyone on their radar has to be on your radar as well. Most recently, dynamic duo Mother Nature decided to team up with fellow Closed Sessions signee BoatHouse to announce a collaborative project called SZNZ that’s due out in April, and I couldn’t be more excited. In order to build some buzz around this upcoming release, they teamed up with Chicago icon Sir Michael Rocks on their brand-new single “Cloudz”, and the results simply speak for themselves. BoatHouse is simply a hitmaker in every sense of the label with this record being no different. Within the beat, he utilizes some ambient, spacey synths or …

Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2020

It’s obvious that 2020 didn’t turn out nearly how anyone expected at the top of the year. With a global pandemic shaking things up, a pivotal presidential election coming to a head, numerous generational talents passing away, and racial injustice protests taking place across the country, it’s safe to say that this year was beyond unpredictable from even the most seasoned psychics. Nonetheless, Chicago persevered like only we know-how, bringing attention to these issues while also divulging into a plethora of other, more personal narratives in the form of music. Throughout the year, some mainstays in the city continued to impress us here at Lyrical Lemonade while other up-and-comers made some very valid, attention-grabbing claims as to why they’re the next rising star that deserves a place at the table. Also worthy of note, Chicago had some truly excruciating losses this year in terms of music legends whose work still shined through as some of the most impressive of the year, primed to carry on their legacy for years to come. All of that said, we’re more than excited to round this farfetched year out with Lyrical Lemonade’s Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2020. This is our 5th year bringing …

Broken Window Of Opportunity – [Sir Michael Rocks]

A few days ago Chicago legend Sir Michael Rocks released a brand new album titled “Broken Window Of Opportunity” and it’s not anything you want to sleep on. From the jump on the introductory record “Open The Vault”, Sir Michael Rocks got on his OG shit, spitting a song that felt like an ode helping out the generation after him, sharing advice that he would give to a young artist coming into the game. After starting the album off on that positive note he didn’t let up in the slightest, he provided us with track after track of great music, everything from soothing R&B type of jams to hard slapping records with nonstop bars. I enjoyed every single record that was apart of this tape, but my favorite joint was either “Ice Skate” because of how unique & sonically pleasing it was, or the well put together “Exotica Maximum”. Sir Michael Rocks did a remarkable job with making this project, with this release not only did he impress but he made his solid catalog even stronger, furthermore proving his importance within the music world but especially in Chicago. Bag Bwe – [Supa Bwe] Ft. [Sir Michael Rocks]

I apologize because I am a few days late on this, but last week Lyrical Lemonade favorite Supa Bwe blessed us with a brand new visual for “Bag Bwe” featuring Sir Michael Rocks. Supa Bwe joined forces with the young phenoms Strip Mall who directed this video, and of course they went above & beyond because that’s what they always do, but even more so when they are working with two of Chicago’s finest. I believe I speak for all fans when I say that I hope that we see this trio work together again in the near future, until that press play below! photo by Cole Schwartz

Bag Bwe – [Supa Bwe] ft. [Sir Michael Rocks]

Ever since I peeped the snippet released on Twitter earlier this week, I’ve been impatiently waiting for Supa Bwe and Sir Michael Rocks’ brand new collaborative offering, “Bag Bwe”. Thankfully, the time has finally arrived, and upon my first watch-through, I can confirm that this one exceeds any and all expectations that you could possibly have for an offering between these incredible Chicago talents. Whether it be because of the two artists’ seamless chemistry when they hit the mic together or the endless energy of the instrumental, “Bag Bwe” refuses to rest —  and rightfully so. Beyond just the undeniable greatness of the song, however, we also need to bring to attention the insane visuals that this single employs to illustrate its mission. Colorful scenery, monsters of biblical proportions, and more grace the screen as Supa and Sir Michael rap along to their captivating verses, giving this offering an edge of insanity that makes the visuals so entertaining. All things considered, “Bag Bwe” is an unbelievable release and an even greater combination of talents, so don’t sleep. Check this one out below and let us know what you think in the comments! Snack Pack, Vol. 1 – [Jamsftc]

We are all about debuting new talent here on our website, and the latest artist to be featured is Chicago artist Jams The Flava Child or Jamsftc for short, who is here with the release of his brand new EP “Snack Pack, Vol. 1“. There’s five songs on this new EP and it’s a pretty quick listen coming in at about eleven minutes in length but there is some great music in this EP, it’s filled with positive music & well put together records. The lone feature on this tape came from fellow Chicago native Sir Michael Rocks on the song “Eviction Notice”, which is probably my favorite of the bunch, they had some great chemistry together on this song and hopefully we see them work together more at some point. Check out this brand new EP below and if you like it go ahead and follow Jams on Twitter here to keep up with his future releases.

Carlton – [Noir Brent] & [Sir Michael Rocks]

Noir Brent aka Brent Rambo is making his way back on our platform today with his brand new offering titled “Carlton” featuring Sir Michael Rocks! Of course we got a dope ass instrumental from Brent because that’s what he always does, but he came through with an even better verse, before Sir Michael Rocks jumped in & absolutely bodied the fantastic beat with an extremely rapid flow. Take a few minutes of your time below to peep this brand new tune & if you like to e sure to follow Noir Brent on Soundcloud here.

I See – [Sir Michael Rocks]

Sir Michael Rocks is back on our pages with his latest solo effort I See, and it would be criminal for me not to say that it’s a must-listen record. Backed by mesmerizing keys from Don Daze, the 1/2 of the Cool Kids collective stunned throughout the entire track with vicious wordplay & flow on seeing the struggles of these other artists and giving them some advice stating simply to ‘get your money up.‘ Following the long-awaited Cool Kids project Special Edition Grandmaster Deluxe that found it’s way onto our Top 50 Projects list last year, it looks as though Sir Michael & Chuck Inglish may be carrying out their solo careers for the time being, and honestly, I don’t think you’ll find one person to complain about it. Make sure to give I See a shot and let us know in the comments section if you’re rocking with the latest from Sir Michael Rocks!

Bull Market – [Sir Michael Rocks]

Chicago’s own Sir Michael Rocks is finding himself back on our pages tonight with his brand new music video for “Bull Market”. The record itself is addictive to say the least, Sir Michael Rocks found a nice pocket on this stellar beat that was handled by Losers.Only and came through with an all around good listen. Check out this brand new music video below and let me know what you think about it in the comments section! Directed by JuanThecameraman

Bag Emoji – [Sir Michael Rocks]

Capping off an eventful year with the comeback album of The Cool Kids, Chicago’s own, Sir Michael Rocks, is here on our pages today to unleash his newest solo single, “Bag Emoji”. This track features flute-driven, intoxicating melodies from producers SUICIDEYEAR and JUNIOR CHEF, and in all of its rapidly-paced glory, this song will most definitely live a long life in my playlist. Rocks maintains an intoxicating energy throughout the entire track both flex-worthy and honest, and to say the least, he’s starting the new year off in his bag. With “Bag Emoji” setting the tone for what’s to come, 2018 is about to be another standout year for both The Cool Kids and Sir Michael Rocks as a solo act. Be sure to listen to the new offering below and let us know what you think in the comments.
