Mozzy and Kenny Beats Freestyle: The Cave

West-coast icon Mozzy joins beatmaker and hip-hop industry star Kenny Beats for a brand new episode of Kenny’s popular YouTube miniseries, The Cave. Both Kenny and Mozzy’s personalities are felt from the jump, with comical conversation and one-liners that offer glimpses into the side of musicians and entertainers that audiences rarely see. Immediately, Kenny questions Mozzy on what type of beat he was feeling, and went to work. Kenny states he can manicure an instrumental in just 10 minutes, and does exactly that, adhering to Mozzy’s request of some “aggressive-smooth-gangsta shit.” Mozzy approved and began to work diligently on a verse and in a matter of minutes, the Sacramento star was in the studio, with his distinctive voice and creative flow spitting flawlessly over the beat. “It’s either eat or get ate, fuck playin’ it safe, you in the way if you ain’t executing the play.” Check out the latest episode of Kenny Beats’ The Cave featuring Mozzy, as their incredible talents in multiple aspects of entertainment are portrayed.

Love Me 4 Me – [Driew] [Mozzy]

Long Beach, CA rapper Driew is fresh to our pages today, making quite a memorable Lyrical Lemonade debut alongside beloved California rapper Mozzy who is building quite the formidable fanbase on the West Coast. Zammer brought this luxurious visual to life, capturing the unique swagger of both Driew and Mozzy who bring their full west-coast flavor to the track. Driew impresses me with both his singing abilities, not to mention the writing, but also has a deep bag of flows to accompany his more melodic stylings. Mozzy fit right at home alongside him on this track and was a perfect feature selection given the mood of the song. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from Driew for the rest of the year and am looking forward to hearing new music from him soon.

Untreated Trauma – [Mozzy]

Sacramento’s own, Mozzy, blessed listeners last night with release of his most anticipated studio project to date, with Untreated Trauma. The rising West Coast superstar has already compiled an impressive discography, but for those still asleep, Mozzy made sure to bring the smelling salts with Untreated Trauma.  After a meteoric rise with successful albums in 2015, 2016, and 2017, work such as 1 Up Top Ahk propelled his stardom. He further rode his momentum into genius work such as Beyond Bulletproof (18th on the Billboard Rap Chart), leaving long-time-listeners and new fans elated with what they’d heard, and just as anxious to hear more. Featuring artists like YFN Lucci, EST Gee, and Kalan.Frfr, Untreated Trauma is an album of realness and transparency, with Mozzy storytelling times of struggle, and manifesting future successes through his consistent work and his strategic mindset. The album is a quick listen, with a 10-song tracklist that only has a duration of just over 27 minutes. However, in that short time, he manages to captivate and maintain the listener’s attention with glimpses into the perspective and personality of this Sacramento star. Mozzy’s distinctive voice and creative delivery offer work only some of the best of the West’s can claim, and …

Zero Tolerance – [Pacman da Gunman] [Nipsey Hussle] [Mozzy]

Last week Crenshaw’s Pacman Da Gunman blessed us with a collaboration that the entire West Coast has been excited to release for some time. Pacman joined forces on “Zero Tolerance” with Sacramento’s Mozzy and the legend that is Nipsey Hussle, who passed away almost 2 years ago exactly. LA has never really been able to fully recover after the passing of Nip, not only a once-in-a-generation emcee but a stand-out human being who has built an empire for his family and friends to triumphantly continue his legacy for centuries to come. All Money In No Money Out has become an iconic imprint label that features some of Nip’s close friends and favorite artists, Pacman falls into both of those categories. Pacman Da Gunman is your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper. He possesses a tremendous lyrical ability and a gruff voice that allows him to paint vivid pictures from his days in the streets. Nipsey saw his potential early on and this collaboration between them shows the special relationship they had before he passed. Now that Pacman is one of the main artists on All Money In, he is not taking that position lightly while looking to build on what Nip started …

No Love – [Kalan.FrFr] ft. [Mozzy]

Up until recently, I was completely oblivious of the music that Kalan.FrFr was making. I would see his name every now and then and because I wasn’t even sure how to pronounce it, I kind of just passed on by him. Due to my ignorance, I realized I was missing out on some of the best music coming out of the West Coast, and I also found out that his name’s actually pronounced Kalan for real for real. Luckily, I tuned in before it was too late and he even just released a brand-new project entitled TwoFr 2 which includes 13 songs that run just about 45 minutes long, and it’s another look at this artist and his abundance of skills. While I want to listen to the tape a bit more before going into too much detail considering I wouldn’t be able to do it justice right now, he decided to drop off a new Blayr Jimmerson-directed music video for one of the best songs off of the project called “No Love” which features Sacramento legend Mozzy. We are introduced to a reoccurring setting right off the bat which is a dark room that Kalan and Mozzy find themselves …

Whaddup Doe – [Derez De’Shon] feat. [Mozzy]

To no surprise Atlanta has another star on their hands. Derez De’Shon returns with a brand new visual for his Mozzy assisted track, “Whaddup Doe.” The new video follows De”Shon and Mozzy throughout a house party and various shots of the duo at the strip club throwing money and partying in front of a gold lit staircase. The London On Da Track produced beat is the perfect background for the two MC’s to flex their respected skills. Combining subtle nuances of both the west coast sound and southern swing, London creates a banger that will resonate in any part of the country. The new song comes off of De’Shon’s latest project, Pain 2, released in early December of last year. Watch Derez De’Shon’s new video featuring Mozzy below and make sure to follow the rising MC on Twitter and Instagram.

L.A. Leakers Freestyle – [Mozzy]

Despite not being in the spotlight, Mozzy has been grinding for over a decade developing his craft and sound that has become revered by the likes of fellow California greats, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg. His most recent work is a collaboration project with Seattle’s Kae One that finds the two MC’s exchanging gritty bars over West Coast style production.
