Watch The Game’s brand new interview with Power 106

The Game is a west coast icon and a hip-hop legend, so when I saw that he sat down with Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk I had to take about half an hour out of my day to see what gems he was dropping. You can find the three of them talking about tons of stuff including his new song “West Side”, Nipsey Hussle, DJ Quik, working with Ed Sheeran & Miguel, his relationship with Dr. Dre, his next album Born 2 Rap being his last album, his favorite food, Will Smith, considering retirement after his fifth album and now being on his tenth, recording his early music in bathrooms, the beat for “In Da Club”, what inspired the title of his next album, being a father, his catalog, what has kept him motivated all of these years, his first son, his mother, his longevity, Los Angeles, the importance of Dom Kennedy, the Lakers & more! Watch this entertaining new conversation below.

Breakthrough – [Brittney Carter]

Chicago creative Brittney Carter has been putting out some quality music for a minute now and has been growing her presence in the Chicago music scene, and this afternoon she is back with her FIRST EVER music video for her song “Breakthrough”. For being her first visual ever I must say that I was blown away with just how good it came out, a large amount of this credit goes to @miguelvisuals_ who was the mastermind behind the camera. Take a few minutes of your day to check out her debut visual below and if you like it be sure to give her a follow on Twitter here. Song produced by Disrupt and Heir Porter.

Got Friends – [GoldLink] feat. [Miguel]

GoldLink and Miguel have teamed up to release the cinematic video for their summer smash, “Got Friends.” Although the video does not actually feature an appearance from GoldLink, it does feature Miguel as one of the main characters. More of a short film than a music video, director Christian Sutton follows the paranormal experiences of three women leaving a late-night diner for a night out on the town. Coming to face with an array of characters, including Miguel, the three women become the targets for something nefarious and supernatural as their fun-filled night listening to “Got Friends” takes a hellish turn for the worst. The abstract take on the duo’s summer hit delivers on all fronts leaving you with questions that can only be answered by watching the video again and again. Check out the new video for GoldLink and Miguel’s “Got Friends” below and share your thoughts with us in the comments!

Undo – [RL Grime] ft. [Jeremih] & [Tory Lanez]

Following his debut Album VOID, electro-trap powerhouse RL Grime just unveiled the tracklist and release date to NOVA, his sophomore album. The album is set to feature the likes of Miguel, Ty Dolla Sign, Chief Keef, 24hrs and more. RL’s curtain calls are more than enough to peak my interest to keep me on the edge of my seat until its release on July 27. Paralleling the album release details, RL Grime also dropped the first track from NOVA to tide us over. The track, Undo, enlists help from Jeremih and Tory Lanez. The single is extremely versatile- intense, yet approachable. It seamlessly combines the musical realms of the respective collaborating artists- most notably the vibey r&b essence Jeremih and Tory are known for, matched with the high energy dance music that led RL Grime to monumental successes. Check out the track below and be sure to mark your calendars to pick up RL Grime’s NOVA project later this summer.

Got Friends – [Goldlink] ft. [Miguel]

Here’s an example of a collaboration that sounds as good in reality as it does on paper. 2017 was no doubt a big year for Goldlink, with his breakout single “Crew” in contention for song of the summer, and on his latest, “Got Friends”, it seems like he’s ready to vie for that spot yet again. The DC wordsmith immediately gets in his bag on this track, letting his signature bullet-speed flow takeover on the verses. Miguel does what he does best on the hook, crooning out smooth, boastful melodies; not to mention an outro that’s bound to be a crowd pleaser at any live show this summer. West coast hit-makers The Stereotypes absolutely bodied this beat, giving it the polished potential of a summer jam combined with a raw, chopped-up style that feels tailor-made for Goldlink’s punchy delivery.

Come Through and Chill – [Miguel] x [J. Cole]

Miguel is one of the biggest artists in the world and he recently blessed his massive fan base with the brand new visual for “Come Through and Chill” featuring J. Cole and Salaam Remi. This offering was a standout for me (and many others) when Miguel dropped his album titled “War & Leisure” last year, so it was just a matter of time before we got the visual, and it certainly exceeded my already high expectations. Take a few minutes of your time below to check out this new video and let me know what you think about it in the comments section!

Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2017

If you recall we released our “Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2016” list on the 31st last year, so it we had to bring it back this year due to the insane amount of talent that is coming out of Chicago. Each & every one of the artists included created something special this year for the world, but especially for the city, so it’s only right that we acknowledge their efforts. Jacob Lusted • Lane Cowherd • Seamus Fay • Mike Del Ro • Jake Millan  • Miguel Alfaro This year has been a year of massive growth for Lyrical Lemonade as a whole: from getting our own HQ, to selling out shows in other cities, being featured in the Chicago Reader, working with some of our idols, growing our overall presence and much more. Thot Goddess (Sailor Moon)- [Supa Bwe]

Over the years, Supa Bwe has released literally hundreds of tracks but the Chicago artist is always revisiting common themes and concepts in his material, creating a musical world of his own in the process. One popular track from back in the days was the illustrious “Thot Goddess” which was a part of his larger “Goddess” series where feminine divinity remained the focal point and his vulnerability seemed to be at it’s peak level. (Sun Goddess, No Goddess, Pot Goddess, the list goes on…) We have seen him revamp an older Goddess track, “Moon Goddess”, last year and while the song sounded different from the original, the feelings of nostalgia it brought back combined with his evolved sound made it a hit. Well Freddy has done it again with a brand new “Thot Goddess”, produced by Florida heavyweight TayMasterChef , to offer to his loyal listeners only two days before the release of the long awaited Finally Dead. The “n****s stole my swaaaaag/I don’t even want it baaaaaack” line is a reference to all of Supa’s children currently popping up with the emo filled cries that have been a staple in Supa Bwe’s music since the beginning. It isn’t a diss though, Chicago’s favorite …
