DD Osama rising out of Harlem is one of the frontrunners of NYC drill. What separates DD from a lot of other drill artists is how quickly he rose to stardom this past year. The Sugarhill rapper has 1.1 million Spotify listeners and he hasn’t even been making music for a full year. SoFaygo Interview: Respecting the Grind and the Evolution

Photo Credit: Le3ay Studio As we’ve progressed through music, we have grown to see the many mediums that artists are using now to take their careers to the next level. We’ve seen artists get popular from Myspace and older social media platforms. Current social sites such as Instagram and TikTok play a huge factor in emerging artists as well. By far one of the most memorable moments in rap would be the rise of Soundcloud rap and the amazing talent that stemmed from it. Being able to watch artists like XXXTENTACION, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Trippie Redd and Lil Yacthy take that platform and completely skyrocket into fame was such an amazing sight to see. While each of these artists has their own respective art and their own craft, they all share one thing in common being the OG’s of the Soundcloud rap community. Here we are in 2022, and we are witnessing the new generation of artists who catch their big break from Soundcloud and take their career to the next level. Some of those names are SSG Kobe, Yeat, Ken Carson, and none other than SoFaygo. First blowing up in 2019 with his breakout single “Knock Knock”, …

Sleazyworld Go Drops New Video For Standout Track “I’m Still”

On November 11, SleazyWorld Go released his new mixtape Where The Shooters Be, via Island Records. While my colleague already reviewed this project, The Kansas City rapper deserves another editorial for his standout single “I’m Still.” While this project features some of his best hit singles such as “Sleazy Flow,” featuring Lil Baby, and “Step 1,” featuring Offset, “I’m Still,” is the best song on this mixtape. With each release, I find myself wondering how the rising rapper will top his previous work. However, Sleazy has not disappointed me yet.  “I’m still the same nigga from the block/still who I used to be/I told the label, This who I am, y’all gotta get used to me/And I ain’t changin’ (No cap)/I heard they killin’ all the rappers nowadays, I gotta stay dangerous (Grrt)”  The 24-year-old rapper reminds his fans that even though he is a star now, he is still the same guy from Missouri who enjoys doing regular things. I have been watching Sleazy grow since last year and it’s extremely remarkable to see how much he has accomplished. Even with all the milestones in his career thus far, I know this is just the beginning. Sleazy has shown so …

On the Weekends I Feel Like Drake – [Fat Nick]

As is the case with most music fans, I listen to certain artists in waves. I just feel like ever since I can remember, I have gone through phases where I only listen to specific artists for a set period of time, but then something new comes out and my admiration begins to tilt in a different direction. I can even tell you what point I was at in my own life based on who I was listening to. Whether it was my Kendrick phase, Kanye phase, straight underground SoundCloud phase, or any of the others, I have been able to appreciate specific artists or styles individually for an exact amount of time before coming across something else. One person that I don’t think I ever outgrew or moved on from is Fat Nick, a Florida phenom who has been lighting the underground scene on fire for years and years, but he has never let up or given me a reason to find something else. Sure, I listen to a whole slew of other emcees as well currently, but whenever Nick drops something, I do my best to tap in because I know it’s not going to be something I …

2MillionBlunts – [BONES]

After all that BONES has done for me musically over some of the most formative years of my life, he could literally drop a song that is 3 minutes of straight silence and I would listen closely. He is an underground legend, which is weird to think because his notoriety and the respect that fans and other artists alike have for him is unmatched, so while he has the numbers to be considered mainstream, I just don’t think that it’s a label that would ever fancy him. He doesn’t seem to want it, either, because he has been doing more than fine throughout the decade-long career that he has built for himself. Considering yesterday was Halloween, although I wasn’t expecting any music from him, it only seemed fitting that he released something to accentuate his chilling, ominous aesthetic, so I was elated to find out that he dropped his 4th album of 2022 entitled 2MillionBlunts. To my surprise, this effort is a monstrous 19 songs that span just over the 46-minute mark, but that isn’t the only shocker that accompanies this tape. I say this because although it’s not uncommon for the Detroit phenom to include features, I was blown …

Siddy Rich of Vodou Music Group Shares His Tips on Succeeding in Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop is an industry where you have to stay on your toes, evolving and adapting to remain relevant. With so many artists vying for fame and recognition, it’s hard to get a foothold, let alone stay relevant. No one knows this better than Siddy Rich of the Vodou Music Group LLC, a Florida-based up-and-coming Hip-Hop star. Siddy’s life has been full of highs and lows, but that hasn’t deterred him from pursuing his dream and taking the world by storm with his refreshing music. Born and partly raised in Haiti, Siddy has had an exciting life. Like many immigrants, Siddy’s story began with parents who wanted more for their children and chose to pursue their American dream. He was 9 when his parents took a leap of faith and got on a raft to come to America for a better life. They would later face detention at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, and life was difficult for a long time. Uprooted from the life he was accustomed to, his friends, and his language, Siddy struggled to fit into his new life in America. He began rapping as a defense mechanism against what he felt and to express his frustrations and confusion. It took a …
