Lola Brooke Premieres Her Latest Single: ‘On My Mind’

If Lola Brooke is not on your radar this year, after reading this article, I hope you get very familiar with her. Standing at 4’9, Brooke is a force to be reckoned with. She is well known in the streets of New York for her deep gritty voice and fierce punchlines. A craft that began in Junior high school, has blossomed into a full-blown career. Growing up, she was influenced by some of hip-hop’s greatest like Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, B.I.G., 2 Pac, Meek Mill, and a few others. Today, the Bedstuy native returns with her new single ‘On My Mind’. ‘On My Mind’ is unlike anything we heard from Brooke before. Ahead of her debut EP, the up-and-coming rapper wants her fans to realize how diverse her catalog can be. In the LVTRKEVIN video, Brooke turns the heat up alongside Lil Rek as both artists embrace a New York love story. Even though this is a love story, Lola still brought out her fatal bars and aggressive flow that I have grown to love. “When I recorded ‘On My Mind’ I wanted people to see that Lola Brooke is a fan of love. There are …

Switch on Me – [Doggi Krazy]

Doggi Krazy is a bilingual artist originally hailing from Colombia, and currently living in NYC. His diversity and flexibility as an artist are exactly what make him special and different. Racking up views quickly, his newest single “Switch on Me” is a high-energy bop that undoubtedly will gather popularity from a multitude of audiences.  The bouncy, uptempo track doesn’t last over two minutes, but what the song lacks in duration, it makes up for in energy. Easy to move your body to, the track crosses genres and is something I could see being featured in a variety of environments.  Doggi has featured on multiple platforms including Billboard, and on Rolling Stone’s Top 100 fastest-growing artists. He’s opened up for  Quondo Rondo, Trippie Redd, Coi Leray, and more. He recently has agreed to a partnership with Empire Latino shortly after getting co-signed by NBA Young Boy. Doggi Krazy is currently managed by NBA Young Boy’s older brother OG 3hree; making him the first Colombian artist under the NBA/4KT Camp. I’m hyped to see how high Doggi Krazy can elevate his library and platform, and “Switch on Me” is just another example of the talent that’s now coming to light.  Tune in on Spotify below!

NIGHTMARE – [93FEETOFSMOKE] ft. [guardin]

Some artists are people who have been on my radar for months and sometimes even years, but there just seems to be something that lacks in my mind because it takes something big to actually get around to listening to them. Sometimes the results make me feel dumb because I can’t believe how long I missed out on their music, and other times, it makes sense why I never officially got in tune with them in the first place. Well, 93FEETOFSMOKE is a clear example of the ladder in my previous statement, because although I had heard him on various songs throughout the hyperpop community, I knew that he was going to have that punk vibe that I grew up on and so often crave, so when I finally officially decided to check his Spotify out a few months back, I was absolutely stunned at the talent that the Richmond, Virginia artist possessed. Ever since then, I have made it a point to check out every new release, so when he dropped his latest song “NIGHTMARE” with the legend guardin, I didn’t even blink before listening. The song itself (produced by SMOKE and Aaron Osborne) is as completely high-energy and …

Who is LAYA?

Earlier this year, LAYA Face from Staten Island debuted her boundary-breaking EP, Um, Hello. The multi-talented artist is pushing boundaries with her creative vision. LAYA wears many hats in the music industry. While she might be known for singing, the rising artist is also a producer, songwriter, creative director, and visual artist. As her career continues to evolve, LAYA’s catalog is also expanding with her melodic work composed of lush, smooth vocals and signature harmonics.  On June 14 via Warner Records, she returned with a new music video reinventing Missy Elliot’s hit “Sock It 2 Me”. In the video, LAYA takes on many forms and faces as she croons about a “late night creep” with her significant other. It’s no surprise to see her stepping out of the element with edgy scenes throughout the entire video. Um, Hello EP has received 10 million global streams and 1.7 million YouTube channel views. You can expect her to join Teyana Taylor in NYC on the “The Last Rose Motel” tour. Upon the release of her EP, we had the opportunity to catch up on a few things… — Lyrical Lemonade: How was your childhood growing up in Staten Island? Who were some …

Getting To Know 100 Percent Pure ENT CEO DB

Behind every successful artist, there is a manager pushing them to their full potential. A music manager is an industry professional who works closely with artists to help them meet their goals. This includes music production, performance and promotion of the artist. Having the right manager throughout your career is extremely essential as you continue to level up. 100 Percent Pure ENT was created in hopes of scouting new talent and having the opportunity to develop with them, and lead them into new heights in their career. DB from North New Jersey has been betting on artists for the last few years. His risks have finally started to pay off after he began to manage up and coming rapper Bandmanrill. In a short span of time DB and Bandman have created a genuine bond that has resulted in the Newark rapper creating his own sound in the music industry by rapping on  genuine Jersey club beats. Bandman has now created a name and social media following along with releasing two singles with over 500,000 views. Behind The Track With 5x Multi-Platinum Producer: Dizzy Banko

In our latest Being The Track feature, I choose to shed some spotlight on Dizzy Banko or also known as ‘DizzYouViolated” from New York. Producers are the glue between an artist and a successful song. Banko has been credited with working with some of hip-hop’s greatest such as Lil Wayne, Offset, Pardi, Fivio Foreign, Pop Smoke, Dua Lipa, Dream Doll, and more. In 2021 alone, his work with the late Pop Smoke was nominated at the Billboard Awards for top rap album. Not only did Dizzy have the opportunity to work with heavy hitters in the music industry, but he also works with numerous up-and-coming artists from NYC like Dave East, Lola Brooke, HDBeenDope, Young Devyn, and many more. Dizzy’s hunger and drive have allowed him to create a name for himself among top producers in the game. Since he started his journey at the age of 12 till now, the 5x multi-platinum music producer has been leveling up with each record he creates. With the way his career is evolving, I know Dizzy Banko’s name will be remembered for generations to come. I had the opportunity to learn more about Dizzy last week. Check out his interview below. — …

FREE SOUNDs [Volume 2]

Cover Photo by @135alistair After introducing the new FREE SOUNDs column two weeks ago, we’re back today with round 2. From NY to Atlanta, Toronto, London, NOLA, and the Carolinas, here’s another batch of interesting and true-to-self things that have been in rotation as of late. Check out Volume 2 below and if you haven’t already, peep FREE SOUNDs Volume 1 here. – – – DEXTER I’ve been a fan of London artist dexter for some time now, and “Pressure” might just be my favorite release of hers thus far. The energy on the song is infectious, the production urges for movement, and dexter’s hook has found itself etched into my brain ever since it came out. Adding additional excitement to “Pressure” is the fact that dexter is also wearing a Corteiz tracksuit in the video, having released the song with Corteiz’s RULESTHEWORLD Records. The UK’s busiest streetwear brand can’t seem to miss, and signing an artist like dexter only enriches the existing connection between London’s fashion and music scenes. “Pressure” checks off every box, leaving me me just as excited as a fan of dexter as it does as a fan of Corteiz. Check this one out below: MEL GLIZZY …

FREE SOUNDs [Volume 1]

Chow Lee Cover Photo By @filmandbandaids For those who pay any attention to my writing (for which I thank you), you may or may not have noticed that I’ve written much less over the past year or so. It’s a time thing, mainly; while I’d love to write in-depth articles about every release that I find interesting, the time that it takes to get those done is exactly what has hindered my ability to get more articles out there. Which is tough, because I love writing about new artists that I’ve been listening to. That said, I’ve decided to start a column called ‘FREE SOUNDs.’ Less words per artist, but more consistent and more music being shared. Below is volume 1 of the new column, meant to highlight those out there who are making interesting and true-to-self things that I’ve stumbled upon and enjoyed. – – – XJAY Houston producer Xjay is a cheat code right now. I originally became familiar with his work through Highway (who is on a run of his own right now), and after falling in love with the sound they built together, have really enjoyed watching Xjay grow his catalog with songs alongside other artists …

Multi-talented Motown Record Signee Malachiii Drops New EP ‘The Ascension’

On May 20th, emerging California artist Malachiii, shared his debut EP, The Ascension, via Motown Records. The EP consists of 7 songs – 4 of which are new to his fans. Earlier this year, the multi-talented artist released his compelling anthem ‘Free My Soul’, ‘Hold Me’, and ‘I’m Back’ prior to his EP. The Ascension places the spotlight on Malachiii elastic flows, buoyant rhythms, and melodies. Ever since the premiere of his debut single “Love Me”, with over 220k views on his live performance, Malachi continues to produce quality work. His latest EP is no exception. This project did a wonderful job highlighting how his approach to music is unlike anything you might have heard before.” Free My Soul” has a melodic vibe, great energy, and unleashes a positive aura upon listening – while “I’m Back” is more of a powerful song with a strong message behind it. “The Ascension is my true introduction to the world,” Malachi shared about The Ascension. “This project is so important to me because it’s just the tip of the iceberg. The listener will get a chance to see different sides of me musically, while reflecting on my journey with “ascension” in all things …

The B4BMG LIVE Experience – [TyFontaine] x [Sparky]

Though the DMV’s world of upcoming hip-hop artists is full of incredible and genre-pushing talent, nobody in that scene is making music quite like TyFontaine. Earlier this year the young rapper/singer released B4BMG: The Experience – a four-track EP bursting at the seams with perfectly-polished bangers and a sound so cinematic sometimes I watch movies on mute while listening to it. The EP, however, was simply serving as a harbinger of things to come. Announced almost two years ago, this week TyFontaine returns with his newest LP Beautiful Michi Girls AND an insane visual collaboration with Sparky – both showing off his vocal affinity and limitless potential. To say that Beautiful Michi Girls was highly-anticipated might be an understatement, as TyFontaine’s fans have been patiently waiting on their king to deliver the follow up to 2021’s Ascension for what feels like an eternity (It’s me, I’m fans – and it’s been a year). Effortlessly flowing between hip-hop, alt-R&B, and trap cuts so melodic that they begin to enter the pluggnb realm – TyFontaine’s BMG is a powerful showcasing of dynamic talent from an artist that always keeps fans on their toes. Who else can sing like Ty Dolla $ign one moment, and then …
