While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. Grapetooth – [Grapetooth]

It has been a hectic past several weeks so admittedly I am late on this post, but not too long ago one of my favorite Chicago acts Grapetooth released their new self titled album and it is flawless! Grapetooth is a Chicago based duo who have released a handful of ear pleasing records that have been in constant rotation for me all year long, and I finally got a few minutes to sit with this full length and it is everything I wanted and more. There is ten solid records provided on this project and it flows together like a movie soundtrack, the transitions are seamless and it is truly one of the best projects I have listened to all year. Be expecting to see this on our Top 50 List here in a few weeks, but for now get in tune with Grapetooth below!

Blood – [Grapetooth]

Grapetooth is the best band coming out of Chicago right now, you just may not know it yet, and tonight the guys are back on our pages with their brand new release titled “Blood”! Every single record that they have put out in 2018 has been a home run in my book, taking a look back at their released catalog over the past few months shows four hit singles, and the numbers are there to back it up. All of this has been extremely eager to listen to their full length project that is set to drop later this year, I predict that it will end up being one of the best albums to come out of the city this year when it’s all said and done, it might even make an appearance on our Top 50 list. Check out their brand new tune via Spotify below and if you like it be sure to keep up with the guys by giving them a follow on Twitter here!

Red Wine – [Grapetooth]

Chicago duo Grapetooth are by far one of my favorite acts out, and they recently blessed us with a brand new music video for “Red Wine”. This song itself had a beautiful melody that I found myself getting lost in, but at this rate I damn near expect that from Grapetooth, every one of their releases to date has been a hit. This might be a reach but I swear listening to Grapetooth makes me think of MGMT, they certainly have different sounds but I am speaking more in term of the abstractness of their videos. Check out this brand new music video below and if you like it be sure to subscribe to the guys YouTube channel.

Trouble – [Grapetooth]

I apologize because I am a couple weeks late on this, but a new band by the name of Grapetooth recently released their new record titled “Trouble” and it’s a smash hit. The duo consists of Twin Peak’s own Clay Frankel and his partner Chris Balioni (Home-Sick), and they offer a sound that is extremely uplifting & ear pleasing. This new joint is only their first release to date, and I don’t think that you could even have a better start than this, so the sky’s the limit for them. This is one of the best songs I have heard in 2017, but don’t take my word for it though, stream the track below & judge for yourself.
