Album Mode – [femdot]

It’s not a secret, and it hasn’t been for a minute, femdot is one of the best rappers from Chicago & today he is back on our website with his new music video for “Album Mode”. This visual was teased on Twitter earlier this weekend got accumulated twenty thousands views on the tweet alone, there was a lot of antipiation for this release and this video lived up to the hype if you ask me. The instrumental on this joint just sounded to monumental + impactful, shout out to the producer Gold Haze for providing fem with this memorable beat, this is a producer/artist combo that I hope to see much more in the future. When it comes to rapping bar for bar, not many can keep up with fem, if you pay close attention to what he’s saying you’ll see that he’s not your average emcee. I could keep going on about this one but I will digress for now, take some time out of your Tuesday to watch this brand new visual below!

Past Life-[XINCLAIR]

XINCLAIR is an artist that I’m really grateful to have been introduced to. Just a week ago, the well-know hitmaker dropped a song called “Past Life” that is worth your ear on this Fourth of July weekend. The three minute and four second song doesn’t let up from the moment you turn it on. Produced by Haze and Ryan Bevolo, “Past Life” is going to be on repeat for a really long time. I just really don’t see myself getting sick of it. XINCLAIR’s vocal talents and downright style is felt through every bar and verse. This is a golden track and I know ya’ll will think so too. I was able to grab a quote from the up and comer about the song and he explained that, “The song came together when I was stuck in writer’s block. I was pretty new (and still am) to making more melodic singing tracks. I wanted to start experimenting with the sound as I listen to the style a lot. The producer of the song Haze sent me a pack of beats and I started freestyling over them until one of them stuck. I got the chorus for the song almost instantly …

Our 50 Favorite Joey Bada$$ Songs

Every once in a blue moon, an artist will come by in hip-hop that bridges the ever-dividing gap between the new and the old – someone who embodies the best of both, and someone that everyone can agree on. Joey Bada$$ and the Pro Era crew were just that when they first came out. Employing a 90s-influenced style and a classic aesthetic that inspired a generation of artists in New York and beyond, Pro Era had the technical skill and “pure hip-hop” lyricism that one would expect from a 90s act, while they also possessed a sense for style, sound, and group comradery that resonated with current-day listeners. It was an incredible marriage of innovation and influence that came from a crew of artists talented and wise beyond their years, spearheaded by none other than Joey Bada$$: an artist now with several undeniable classics to his name, all the way from pure-as-it-gets hip-hop tracks to high-flying, radio-ready anthems. Frankly, Joey Bada$$ has done it all, and his still-growing contributions to hip-hop – aesthetically, lyrically, sonically, and otherwise – are not to be underestimated. Not often do we get a talent of Joey’s caliber that fans of any age can get behind, …

Superstitious Freestyle – [Femdot]

Femdot is a standout emcee out of Chicago who has been turning more and more heads as of late, and as he is bunkered down somewhere in the city for this quarantine, he somehow built up enough inspiration to get in the booth and create a new freestyle track for us titled “Superstitious”. Anybody who knows femdot’s music understands that he is arguably the best bar-for-bar artist that Chicago has to offer, and he furthermore proved that statement on this new offering, as he kicked about a minute + fifteen seconds of nothing but straight FIRE. We got to give some love to the producer Gold Haze on this one for providing femdot with this absolutely bass knocking instrumental, it was the perfect beat for femdot to rip apart, any true femdot fan knows what he can do when he gets his hands on a stellar beat like this and he did it yet again. Tell Me – [Gold Haze]

Gold Haze is a Chicago treasure who has been featured on our platform countless times in the past, and today he is adding to that growing list with his brand new music video for “Tell Me”. More Than Gold – [Gold Haze]

I apologize because I am a couple of weeks late to this one, but not too long ago Chicago artist Gold Haze released a brand new project titled “More Than Gold”. I have grown to know Gold Haze as an amazing R&B singer and producer who can grace other peoples songs + make them that much better, and his solo material has been more than impressive in the past so I couldn’t wait to jump into this new project and see what it was all about. Gold Haze definitely flexed his amazing R&B sound on this project but one thing that I thought was dope was that he showed off his rapping abilities more than I have heard in the past, and although I knew he could spit, he blew me away with how good he was rapping here. Musically, not many can create as ear-pleasing material as Gold Haze seems to do again and again, and he came through here with an all-around solid project! production from Darrion Jackson, Dom J, Solo, Juke Wong, 99, Gold Haze, Jerrico Beats, *TRPHY, Kilt Karter Executive produced by Josi Green

The Good and The Bad EP – [Ausar] x [Josi Green]

I was out of town this past weekend when I got a text from Ausar that his new EP with his right hand man Josi Green had just been released, and I couldn’t wait to get back to the city to sit down and give this tape my upmost attention. If you are a regular on our website then you surely know about both of these Chicago products and the great music that they have been creating for years now, but trust me when I say that this is easily some of their best material to date. As if seeing Ausar and Josi doing a collab tape with a feature from the super talented Ro Marsalis wasn’t enough for you, two of the best young producers Gold Haze and Aaron Deux handled this tape in it’s entirety, this is literally a dream team. Expect nothing but good raps, impressive soulful instrumentals and all around creative energy on this EP, press play below!

Searching – [Ausar] x [Josi Green]

Chicago creative Ausar is one of my favorite young rappers coming out of the city, and Josi Green is also one of my favorites out of Chicago, so when I saw them link up for a new track called “Searching” I was ecstatic. This isn’t the first time I have heard both of these emcees on the same instrumental, and they have impressed in the past with their prior offerings, but this is by far their best track together to date. The silky smooth and soulful production that was handled by Gold Haze is an easy 10/10, giving Josi & Ausar the best possible start to this one, and once they both added their sensational verses we had a complete hit! While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. Bad Habits – [Josi Green]

If you are a frequently visitor on our website then the odds are that you know Josi Green, who is finding himself back on our platform today with his brand new project titled “Bad Habits”. Josi Green has been blessing us with some good music for years now, it has been dope to watch him mature & progress as an artist, and as a fan I am happy to say that this new project is his best work to date. It doesn’t take much more than a song or two into the tape to see that the production on this project is serious, Josi connected with Ro Marsalis & Gold Haze who produced this tape in its entirety & man did they lace him with some heat to rhyme over. All nine of these songs provided flowed together in perfect cohesiveness making for a great all around tape, but don’t take my word for it though, click play below and judge for yourself.
