SEARCH FOR: FATBOY SSE

RUNNIN’ – [Mr. Chicken]

Not to make this article overly personal but recently I relocated from Atlanta to Jersey City, NJ, just across the Hudson River from New York City, and naturally one of my first inclinations once arriving was to first try to tap into the music scene here. Now obviously I am familiar with the initial New Jersey wave of the 2010’s with unforgettable larger than life characters like RetcH, Fetty Wap, or Fatboy SSE who all showcased different aspects of a massively overlooked state rich with its own culture and systemic problems. Lately the scene in Newark, derived as a mix of the classic jersey-club bounce beats with a sprinkling of drill-influence that has the city dancing, but I hadn’t yet heard of any artists from Jersey City and very shortly after beginning my search stumbled upon Mr. Chicken who has consistently been leading his city for multiple years now, utilizing a more polished and melodic flow compared to the frenetic and gruff sounds coming from NYC and Newark. His latest video for “RUNNIN’” is a melodic masterpiece with crisp, reflective writing and vocal range that allows Mr. Chicken to express a full range of emotions. I am really excited to …

The Dissection – [NateNumbaEight]

If you’re somehow not tapped in with Jacksonville’s legendary underground emcee NateNumbaEight, then I have no choice but to feel sorry for you. He has been setting trends left and right for over a half-decade and whether you realize it or not, he has influenced most of your favorite artists out right now. Nate just simply doesn’t give a shit in the best possible way, and that is what makes his music so spectacular. When it comes to bars, he knows he is one of the most elite spitters in the game in terms of word plays and lyricism whether he’s joking around or not, and when it comes to out-of-the-box sonic creations, he isn’t afraid to dip his toes in new waters and try out something completely new, even if there is a chance that people hate it. The fact of the matter, though, is that no one could ever hate on Nate’s sound because when you think about it, no one could ever mimic it which makes him probably the most one-of-a-kind rapper that I have ever witnessed. I don’t know how else to describe Nate other than the fact that he’s someone you don’t just want on …

Skeleton Men – [Fatboy Biggz] ft. [LuhUFO] & [NateNumbaEight]

One of my absolute favorite people in the entire rap music scene has to be NateNumbaEight, and that’s not even hard for me to say. I’ve been a fan for quite some time now because I just love all of his Twitter antics, hilarious freestyles, and some of the other artists he puts me onto. In fact, I probably followed him for longer than I’d like to admit before I realized he made actual music and not just funny freestyles based on internet videos, but I love how he brings his personality to the party every single time he drops something new. Although I wasn’t familiar with Fatboy Biggz or LuhUFO prior to them teaming up with Nate on their song “Skeleton Men”, I was fully captivated from the moment I saw a snippet of the KaneMadeIt-directed music video. The production is full of tranquil, old-school-sounding instruments combined with a sample of sorts that is a bit more boom-bap than I anticipated but hearing these three talents on the record makes me think that there’s no beat they could hop on and not kill. Considering it’s Fatboy’s song, he opens things up with high-energy lines that are full of personality, …

Reverse! – [Natenumbaeight]

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about music in the current digital age of music, it’s that there are literally no boundaries that artists need to follow anymore. Just as Natenumbaeight, one of the most captivating and creative artists in the entire industry, yet you can never tell if he is constantly trolling just to joke or if he’s going to win a Grammy one day. Either way, Nate is no stranger to the spotlight considering a plethora of his spur of the moment freestyles responding to internet videos go viral more often than not, so if you’re not familiar with his name, you might be familiar with freestyles like his “FuckedUpInTheCribFreestyle.mp4” or “MonkeyBonerFreestyle.mp4”. Now, if you’re not familiar with his antics online, then his musical style might catch you by surprise, but there’s no denying his lyrical abilities when it comes to the wordplay he uses throughout his music, and even the harshest of critics would have to agree with that. This is evident in a song called “Reverse!” which came out about a month ago, so yes, I know I’m late to the party. Nonetheless, the homie FatBoyBrick actually produced this hit, utilizing some inquisitive and almost ominous …

Slugs – [Lar$$en] x [Yung Bans] x [Fatboy SSE]

Yung Bans, Lar$$en, and Fatboy SSE come together to make an incredible, unforeseen team. All three artists are given their own verses on the track with Bans doing double dute as he handles the hook as well. All three artists really outdid themselves; however, Lar$$en had my favorite verse on the track as he went completely dummy catching one of the nastiest flows. It’s only a matter of time before this track is in rotation on a playlist near you, so get in tune now by pressing play below.
