STOP IT! – [EGOVERT]

If you’re familiar with EGOVERT and have been following along on social media, you know that we’re preparing for something truly special with EGODEATH. While talking to him, he has hinted at some amazing upcoming events and releases that are going to be unfolding sooner than later, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come for him moving forward. One of these releases happens to be his song entitled “STOP IT!” produced by Mathias Tyner as well as a 6ood Vibez and EGOVERT-directed music video to accompany it. While the song is an all-out hit, that should come as no surprise whatsoever, so I wanted to focus mainly on the music video considering you’re going to hear the banger as you watch. Opening up with a caption that says somewhere out West, a clearly intoxicated cowboy heads into a bathroom to relieve himself, eventually looking in the mirror at himself while playing around with his pistol, joking around as if he’s in the middle of a gunfight with his reflection. After putting the gun down, EGO makes his way in, finding the gun and taking it for himself just in case it comes in handy. After a short …

SEXYBACK! – [EGOVERT] & [1NONLY]

I know I talk about EGOVERT so often that you might almost be sick of hearing about him, at this point. At the same time, though, if you’ve cared enough to tune into any of his previous tracks, you know exactly why I rave so much about him, and if you have been ignoring me for some unexplainable reason, let this be your final warning because it’s legitimately mandatory that you check him out. Just the other day, EGO decided to team up with one of my other favorite up-and-comers 1NONLY for a brand-new Dustin Cavazos and Mathias Tyner-produced record entitled “SEXYBACK!”. If you’re familiar with these two hitmakers, you know that you should expect the unexpected, but the way they just build all-out bangers with some of the most unique instruments and layers is completely insane in all of the best possible ways. This track is no different, and EGO is the perfect man for the job as he brings his trademark energy as well as some very eye-opening and somewhat raunchy lyrics to the forefront that are sure to get any function bumping. When 1NONLY comes in later, though, he delivers a slightly smoother, more melodious verse with …

IDEAS ARE BULLETPROOF! – [EGOVERT]

Out of everyone in the industry, big or small, there is really no one I root harder for than EGOVERT. Not only is he an incredible musician on all fronts, but he is one of the most captivating and polarizing individuals on this earth, period. While he is known for creating some of the most dexterous, out of the box music that can be the soundtrack to a party just as easily as other songs can be the playlist for a good introspection, he is simply one of the most versatile artists in the entire world and it amazes me time and time again that people can go about their lives without knowing about him. Although he has been hyping up his project EGODEATH for quite some time, I know he wants it to be perfect. So, instead of making fans and listeners alike wait, he decided to appease our hunger with the release of the aforementioned project’s prelude entitled Ideas Are Bulletproof! Executively produced by Dustin Cavazos and Siddhartha with production from oakerdidit, crmsyn, cherryannbaby, and oddestoneyoung, these 5 songs run just about 17 minutes long and were written, recorded, and produced in 47 hours and 37 minutes. Although …

STEP IN THE SCENE FREESTYLE! – [EGOVERT]

Ever since I’ve gotten deeper into the underground music scene while writing for Lyrical, I’ve been lucky enough to actually form friendships with certain artists and other industry people, and there are perks that come with this. Most notably, a lot of times I get an early look at new music from some of my favorite up-and-comers, so when EGOVERT hit me last week and sent an early cut of his latest song, I was all in from the moment I pressed play. This song, which came out just yesterday, ended up being called “STEP IN THE SCENE FREESTYLE!” and it’s produced by the well-renowned hitmaker Supa Mario. As soon as you begin the song, your ears are attacked by a rowdy, intense 808 before you hear some intergalactic synths that are eventually met with spread apart hats and some mischievous piano keys that truly tie everything together. Considering EGO is one of my overall favorite artists out right now, I feel like he can do no wrong, but the way he attacks this instrumental shows him truly at the top of his game. Although he can have such a strong and almost overpowering personality, this is what keeps me …

Nikes – [Manny Sanchez]

Manny Sanchez is a name I just became acquainted with a couple of months or so ago when EGOVERT decided to team up with Tay Money and Manny for their song “Type Shit!”. When I heard that song, I got an incredible sense of Manny’s personality and his ability to complement some other, somewhat wilder artists on the same song. That’s why, when my homie hit me up and put me onto his latest release, I knew I had no choice but to listen up. On this record which is called “Nikes”, Manny takes a moment to create an ode and almost a love song of sorts to one of his favorite shoes of all time, the Nike Cortez. Being a sneakerhead myself, I definitely understand and respect the dedication and admiration he has for this specific model because it’s not only an iconic shoe, but it plays a huge role in certain cultures across the country, making it an absolute staple in any legitimate sneaker collection. Now that I’m done geeking out about shoes for the moment, Manny teamed up with producer Dustin Cavazos, a name I’m familiar with because of his copious amounts of work with EGOVERT in …

Saint Laurent – [EGOVERT]

Although I follow a ton of independent artists and believe that many of them are going to go extremely far in their musical careers, few of these talents get me quite as excited as EGOVERT does. There is just something about the way he carries himself and doesn’t care about what other people think that makes his already incredible music even more remarkable, and I legitimately believe that he’s going to make it big at some point or another. I mean, at the end of the day when you listen to any single one of his songs, none of them sound even remotely the same and he is able to switch up styles in the blink of an eye, making sure that fans have no idea what to expect before pressing play. Most recently, the underrated superstar dropped off his latest single “Saint Laurent”, a song that is named after one of his favorite high-end fashion labels that he sports fairly regularly throughout his visuals and social media posts. Just a few seconds in, you’ll realize that the beat is made by none other than Mathiastyner, the hitmaker behind most of his up-tempo, chaotic offerings, and Dustin Cavazos, another incredibly …

Do It! – [Egovert] ft. [Smokepurpp]

After one of the most stressful, unexpected years of all time, we all deserve to just kick back, relax, and enjoy ourselves as we venture on into the new year. That means, if there’s one person I trust to take over the New Year’s playlist, it has to be Egovert. Ego has become one of my favorite artists in general after I heard about him earlier this year, and he hasn’t even begun to reach his final form, which says a lot considering he already has an entire magazine of hits that I haven’t been able to stop listening to all year long. He decided to ring in the year the only way he knows how, by dropping an absolute banger, and his fans are rejoicing to say the least. After long deliberation and a couple of bumps in the road, we finally received “Do It!”, a song that Ego teased various times featuring the one and only Smokepurpp. Now, I’ve been a fan of Purpp for years and years, so when I found out one of my previous favorite artists was teaming up with one of my new favorite artists, I didn’t sleep for weeks until I heard this …

Type Shit! – [EGOVERT] ft. [Tay Money] & [Manny Sanchez]

Ever since I found out about EGOVERT a few months back, it has been absolutely mandatory that I tune into any and all of his new releases. His versatility is as prominent as his plethora of skills themselves, and you never know what kind of sounds he’s going to bring to life prior to pressing play which keeps you on your toes every time. Whether he’s getting into some quite introspective topics over a more melodious beat or he’s going completely off the rails on some unique bangers, he’s never off his game even slightly, and that’s why I know without a doubt in my mind that he’s going to blow up sooner rather than later. I’ve luckily gotten to know EGO personally since we connected on social media, and when he sent over an unreleased track featuring Tay Money and Manny Sanchez, I was counting down the days until everyone else got to witness the anthem he blessed me with early. Luckily, he decided to drop the track entitled “Type Shit” late last night, and it is undeniably a song that you need to drop whatever you’re doing and listen to. The beat is comprised of some hollow, echoing, …

Drugs and Flowers – [Egovert] & [Cash Bently]

Out of the entire underground music scene, Egovert is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite artists making music. His dexterity is unbelievable, his charisma is captivating, and his sheer talent is undeniable, to say the least. He just has such a special talent of pushing the boundaries no matter how wild or unbelievable they might seem, but he does so in such a tasteful manner that he’s definitely an artist you need to keep an eye on. Cash Bently is a talent that I’m less familiar with, but I have heard some of his music previously and I think it’s safe to say that he can be described and categorized quite similarly to his fellow Virginia counterpart. When I talked to Ego and he told me he had a collaborative project on the way with Cash, I couldn’t wait to tune in and see what kind of hecticness that the two were going to bring to life. Considering Ego’s last EP was Kids These Days, one of my favorite projects overall this entire year, I was expecting something even wilder. Despite my anticipations, after listening to Drugs and Flowers, quite the opposite vibe happened in the best possible way. Rather …

Kids These Days! – [Egovert]

I had only once heard of Egovert prior to his most recent EP Kids These Days!, and that was on a track I wrote up for one of my favorite Virginia talents, 909Memphis. On that song, I definitely appreciated his skill and sound, but I felt like he was holding back somewhat, despite the fact that I had no other frame of reference for the type of music he made. When I came across him again today with his relatively new EP, I decided to tune in and expand my horizons because I knew he most likely had a lot more to offer, and man was I right. From the moment I pressed play on Kids These Days! to the moment it ended, I was enthralled in an alternate universe that Ego pieced together with his various lyrics, deliveries, and just overall off the wall personality. I quickly realized that I have been missing out on this intriguing persona for quite some time, and now I’m not going to be able to help but tune in to every single drop he gifts us moving forward. As for the EP, it boasts just 6 powerful songs that clock in at just …
