ALBUM MODE – [DillanPonders]

This year has brought out a different level of creative energy from Toronto’s DillanPonders. Coming off a strong release with his EP Mushrooms & Melodies, Toronto’s reigning King of the Underground blesses us with his 2nd project before the halfway point in the year. After a few strong single releases, DillanPonders has unleashed his latest LP titled ALBUM MODE. If you’re into gritty lyrics that pack the power of a Will Smith-slap then you’ll be happy to know DillanPonders is back on his BS. Throughout the full 13-track run time, each song shows off how versatile Dillan’s cadence is. If one thing is obvious, Dillan has been in the studio perfecting his craft and the results are incredible. Everything on ALBUM MODE was produced by longtime collaborator BVB, who seems to be in perfect chemistry with Dillan as of late. He seems to master the type of production that allows Dillan to ride the pocket and switch his flows up multiple times within a song, one thing he does impeccably well. One of the biggest standouts from this rollout was one of the album’s singles “Demon Mode” which has Dillan going devilish over a beat that doesn’t let up. Other standouts of Dillan’s …

KING OF THE TOWN – [DillanPonders]

If anything has become clear in the past few months, it’s that Toronto’s DillanPonders is an absolute beast! Building off the momentum of his powerful album BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE to close out 2020, it didn’t take long for Dillan to return with some new visuals for his devout fanbase. One of the tracks from his album that has seemed to stand out as a fan favorite is the high energy “KING OF THE TOWN”. Dillan is an artist that has long been grinding in the underground, but this triumphant anthem is where he claims his place in the city’s ever-growing hierarchy. Being that this track has seemed to grab the most attention from the project, Dillan’s fans will be happy with the visual treatment for one of his fiercest songs to date. Directed by Sam Szigeti, the visual matches Dillan’s chaotic energy perfectly with fast cuts of the emcee looking like a crime-boss in some Mad Max post-apocalyptic world. Funny enough, the song fits this narrative well with BVB’s production centering around strings reminiscent of a showdown in the Old West. Dillan’s project may have dropped in 2020, but I don’t think he’s done feeding his fans to continue the growth of …

BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE – [DillanPonders]

Over the past few years, we have seen Toronto’s DillanPonders work tirelessly to ascend through the convoluted journey that comes with making it as a star in today’s music industry. The career artist has put out a stellar full body of work over the past few years, each one showing a solid step forward in Dillan’s talent as an artist but he recently blessed us with by far his best project to date titled BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE. This powerful 12-track album is a full showing of Dillan’s musical talents and a tribute to all of the influences that he has pulled from to craft his unique sound. It feels as if Dillan has gone through an evolution, everything from his music to his demeanor seems to have been focused in on as with an album of this level, I don’t think DillanPonders will be considered an underground artist for much longer. This year has seen us all have to take a step back and be thankful for the small things many of us take for granted on a day to day basis. Dillan’s unrelenting praise of perseverance in the face of hardship is honestly one of the most inspiring takeaways …

Premiere: JUNGLE – [DillanPonders] ft. [Ruby Waters]

Every single person has had to readjust their plans in some way, shape, or form this year  due to a pandemic that continues to throw us curve balls. Its been a time that has provided different things for different people, for some being a time to just slow down and others it has been a major factor in the unwraveling of their lives. Its been a unique experience for all, but there’s no question it has made everybody readjust their plan, for better or worse. I’m excited to premiere a new release from a resiliant Canadian artist that has taken the past few months to dial in, providing the world with an enhanced sound and a demeanour that exudes confidence. We haven’t heard much from Toronto artist DillanPonders this year. He has been the type of person that has taken this year to emerge from the chaos beautifully, much like a butterfly from its coccoon, using the time to completely evolve as an artist and as a person. Today we are premiering his brand new single “JUNGLE”, a triumphant anthem that is the perfect statement piece to let people know they’re no longer dealing with the same DillanPonders. At this …

KNOWHERE – [DillanPonders]

An artist who has been releasing some of the strongest singles of his career to close out 2019 is DillanPonders. The Toronto staple has begun to turn heads in his city, all by remaining true to his vision and pushing high-quality rap music to his devout fanbase. On his latest EP KNOWHERE Dillan emphasizes his passion behind moving to the beat of his own drum and not fit into the expectations of society. This project leans towards the dark side of Dillan’s creative mind, understandably so after over a half-decade as an independent artist who has experienced a wild variety of highs and low traversing through the music industry. DillanPonders has been on an impressive run of dropping singles, with the most recent being “JURASSIC” alongside the red hot IDK. That feature may bring in new fans for Dillan but some of his strongest songs on the project are Dillan on his own laying down relentless bars. The intro song “KNOW I’M GOD” is one of my personal favorites, as Ponders puts his city on notice for his place as his own enigma, outside of the competitive nature amongst artists in Toronto. Playing off this, “LIMITLESS” sets his sights for the …

JURASSIC – [DillanPonders] ft. [IDK]

An artist who has been making some serious waves this year is DillanPonders, the psychedelic forefather of Toronto’s underground. Lyrical Lemonade has been loving the music he’s put out this summer, but he recently changed the game releasing a song alongside DMV Heavyweight IDK. The two lyrical wordsmiths trade verse back and forth over the intense beat produced by Alex Parham. The way both artists dissect their verses, it feels like a scene from Jurassic Park with two ferocious dinosaurs digging into their prey. Dillan and IDK are emcees of a high caliber, both intricate with their delivery on each bar. This is the final single of DillanPonder’s upcoming EP KNOWHERE. Each track released thus far has continued to impress me, with the build-up he’s had this project is sure to turn some heads. Listen to “JURASSIC” on all platforms here!

ENIGMA – [DillanPonders]

Toronto’s reigning King of the Underground has returned with a laidback new banger. DillanPonders is known for his grizzled voice and witty lyricism, this song features both of those elements but in a different fashion than we’ve seen previously. On his latest single “ENIGMA” Dillan is well aware of his unique position in the music industry, an artist who has a deep catalog of diverse records that all stand out in their own right. This single is reminiscent of a raging river, continuously flowing with an aggressive tone. Ponders is an artist that is established, but constantly evolving as he discovers sounds that can take his unique voice that much further. This is the third single off his upcoming EP KNOWHERE set to drop later this year. Each single thus far has shown a different side of DillanPonders, it will be exciting to hear what else he has planned for this project. Stream “ENIGMA” on all platforms here! Produced by BVB and Alex Parham

GO TIME – [DillanPonders]

Toronto emcee DillanPonders is making his Lyrical Lemonade debut with an apocalyptic new single “GO TIME”. Over the past few years, Ponders has been making waves in the Toronto underground scene using his personality to build an incredibly loyal fanbase. Ponders is an artist who brings a high level of lyricism paired with his raspy voice, combining to make a signature sound that is instantly recognizable on any of his tracks. DillanPonders has been building a foundation with a number of underrated albums, it would seem that on his latest offering he is informing all listeners he is done waiting and he is about to take matters into his own hands. The Alex Parham produced beat provides the perfect stage for Dillan’s PSA, it envokes feelings of a soundtrack to a Mad Max style wasteland. Last time Dillan dropped a one-off single, it was followed up by his 2018 album The Boy Who Died. With the nature of his latest release, I wouldn’t be surprised if DillanPonders is brewing up some heat for a new project. Don III – [Just John] & [Dom Dias]

Throughout history, we have seen countless examples of artist-producer combos that have worked together to create music that takes each party to another level. Today, I am introducing you to one of those combos, artist Just John and producer Dom Dias. The duo has been working together for some time now and just dropped the third and final installment in the Don EP series. Without a doubt, Don III is the most advanced release from the Toronto-based pair and there are no signs of slowing down yet. Over the past few years, Just John has been building up his image in the underground scene of Toronto and recently had his 2018 single “Soundboi” selected as the official playoff song for the Toronto Raptors. Working with Dom Dias has allowed John to perfect his sound over the unusual production style Dom has. Any time a producer is able to work unusual effects or samples into their music it adds another level of complexity to the music and these can be found all over Dom’s music. Together, the two combine to create a cohesive sound that allows both artists to shine in their own right. The 6-song project is filled with fire …
