Spend It – [Baby Sosa]

Whenever I cover a new song from Virginia’s Baby Sosa, I always struggle to capture the sheer individuality of her art. Few, if any, artists present such a left-field approach toward arguably the biggest trend-following genre out right now, and accordingly so, the impact of an artist as honorably-weird as Sosa can’t be understated. Today, displaying this very eccentricity, the budding talent is here with a new single by the name of “Spend It.” Produced by EvilGiane, “Spend It” kicks things off with a muddied, almost ethereal beat, strategically placed under the audio of an argument over the phone. After the first 38 seconds or so, the sample sprouts into a bright, hyper-melodic instrumental, and right off the bat, Sosa hits the ground running with shining lyrics, equal parts triumphant and ambitious. Per usual, the VA representative hovers above the beat with a set of vocals that refuse linearity, and the result is yet another perfect display of Baby Sosa’s wonderfully-odd, colorful world. That said, “Spend It” adds to a growing list of impeccable singles from the budding talent, so don’t sleep. Stream Sosa’s latest at the link provided below! Produced by EvilGiane Artwork by Lowe

EVERYWHEREIGO – [BABY SOSA]

Whenever I find myself writing about a new release from Virginia artist Baby Sosa, I’m reminded of the unmatched amount of life that shines through her music. Few artists seem to have as much genuine fun as Sosa does when she creates, and furthermore, I can’t name anyone just as unapologetically odd and simultaneously talented as this budding talent — that is, without ever forcing a thing. As shown through all of her releases that we’ve covered to date, no one is quite like the left-of-center star, herself, and today, this video is brought to new heights with the incredible visuals for “EVERYWHEREIGO.” Being that today is Sosa’s birthday, you’d think that the fans would be the one offering the gifts, but needless to say, the VA talent decided to switch things up. With the highly-anticipated visuals for “EVERYWHEREIGO,” she takes her audience directly into the colorful world of Virginia, making sure to translate the mysteriously decadent allure of the song in the process. Best summed up by the final line, “n****s ain’t have no money and still was having fun,” this offering reminds us to find joy in any and all facets of life, with “EVERYWHEREIGO” as the perfect anthem for …

Emergency – [Baby Sosa]

Especially in the past few weeks, I’ve thought a lot about what sparks my interest in a given song and further, why I choose to write about the song. While there certainly isn’t one cut and dry reason that applies to everything I’ve written about, I would say the general rule of thumb isn’t just that a song has to sound good, but rather, that it has to feel exciting in some sense of the word. In the case of Virginia artist Baby Sosa — one of my personal favorite recent discoveries — this excitement arrived through the vessel of unbounded creativity. With this in mind, Baby Sosa’s music isn’t quite like anything else out there right now, and gleefully so. In singles such as her latest, “Emergency,” Sosa proves to be in a colorful, off-the-beaten-path world of her own creation, using eclectic sounds and striking sonic patterns to illustrate this vision and bring it to life. Not only is the playful tone of her vocals an exciting aspect of the music, but the production contributes just as much, bringing Sosa’s oddball charm into an atmosphere of sound that, in the oddest of ways, makes perfect sense for her artistry. Needless …

Stuntin – [Baby Sosa]

For those who have been keeping up with Lyrical Lemonade lately, we recently covered an anthemic offering by the name of “EVERYWHEREIGO” from Virginia artist Baby Sosa. Anthemic by all means yet noticeably hard to put a finger on why I loved it so much, I’ve been listening to Baby Sosa quite a bit this week, and thankfully so, she’s back today to drop off a brand new single, “Stuntin”. Produced by WHOISDONNY, this offering follows up “EVERYWHEREIGO” in its ability to entertain in such an eclectic, off-the-wall manner. Baby Sosa’s style is impossible to put into words, but her off-kilter flows and mysteriously captivating cadences will leave you clicking replay again and again, regardless of whether or not you understand why you love it so much. With this, “Stuntin” is a braggadocious offering at heart, allowing the rising talent’s inimitable confidence to electrify listeners, one line at a time. That said, Baby Sosa is paving her own lane and refusing to follow trends right now, so don’t sleep. She’s on her way to having quite the prosperous year in 2019, and as such, I would highly recommend listening to “Stuntin” below to get acclimated with her wonderfully unique style!

EVERYWHEREIGO – [Baby Sosa]

I probably overuse the word “anthemic” in my writing, but in all truth, there’s no better term to describe Baby Sosa’s incredible single, “EVERYWHEREIGO.” Clashing her off-the-wall, unforgettable vocal styles with a lethal concoction of melody and charisma, this Virginia native might just be one of the most entertaining artists I’ve heard all year long. “EVERYWHEREIGO” has the indescribable touch of personality that’s difficult to put your finger on, but quite naturally, it connects with listeners and transcends any sort of appeal that you can easily translate into words. In this way, Baby Sosa’s style feels right as opposed to just sounding right, and the only justifiable reaction to this single is to throw it on repeat, because what else can you do but scream “everywhere I goooo, they all know my name” when you hear a song this catchy. That said, I honestly don’t remember how I stumbled on this fantastic cut from Baby Sosa; all I know is that this one is getting thrown into heavy rotation for the weeks to come, and I would encourage all of our readers to do the same. Stream “EVERYWHEREIGO” below and keep an eye out for new releases from Baby Sosa hopefully in …
